About

ABOUT me

Hi, I'm Blake Dowdall. A New Zealand racecar driver making my way through the ranks. So far, I've competed in karting for six years, Formula First for one, and have been in Fords 2 seasons.
I started racing just before my 8th birthday when Dad showed up with my first go-kart in the back of his ute to go and have a run around the local track. However, our competitive personalities got the best of us and I was very shortly competing in any event we could. I started my car racing career in Formula First, this all kicked off on a test day with Dennis Martin from Sabre Motorsport. On this test day, I turned some really quick laps, so off to Formula First I went. During my time in Formula First, I won the Winter Series and the Rod Ball Memorial trophy. I am currently driving Formula Fords, and have just completed my 2nd season. In this class, I learnt a massive amount and have achieved; the Manfeild Winter Series 2022 winner. - North Island Formula Ford - 2nd (2022 - 2023.)

- NZ Formula Ford Championship - 6th 2023

- North Island Formula Ford Round 4 - 1st 2024

- North Island Formula Ford - 3rd 2023 - 2024.

- Morrie Smith Memorial Trophy Winner - 2022.

I am also the current 2024/25 North Island Formula Ford and NZ Formula Ford Championship leader (15/02/25)

"Blake Dowdall is going to be a driver to watch in the coming years, his record to date is adequate proof of his potential, his maturity and determination to succeed are exceptional, he’s also fearless and not overawed by the opposing drivers. He’s another graduate of karting and made his open-wheel debut in last year’s Winter Series in Formula First, winning the trophy ahead of Jenson Bate. This year there was a major step up by switching to Formula Ford where he also claimed the silverware and is also competing in the North Island Championship against the country’s best young drivers where he currently sits second in the standings after three rounds. A masterstroke has been securing former champion Callum Crawley in a dual role as his driving tutor and engineering the #6 Spectrum. Palmerston North Boys High School has an impressive list of sportsmen who have succeeded at the highest level, in motorsport Brendon Hartley is the standout - will Blake Dowdall be the next as he pursues his racing career with IndyCars the ultimate goal"
